Are you talking about the door edge guard that runs up the vertical part of the door? Where was the $80 quote from? Have you tried any online Mazda vendors such as www.onlinemazdaparts.com?

If you want quality, pay the price. If you want functionality and affordability, go to Wal-Mart or Meijer and get the chrome door guards for $10

 

When I got the clear bra installed on my car the day after I bought it, they installed some on each door edge. It might be worth a shot to see if an installer in your area can do this instead. I can't believe it costs that much. If so, go get some 3M clear vinyl and cut some strips and do it yourself. It didn't look that hard when they were installing it.

 

or you can get the ones from wal-mart a long with some paint stripper or goo gone and strip the chrome off then paint them the color of the car or w/e color you want and you'll be good to go...maybe.
