(Whoops!! Open mouth. Insert foot.)
Congrats on the '08. I've got ~10K on my '07 with no problems.
Did you take a look at the '07's? Did the dealer, or does anyone else know what minor changes might have been made to the '08's?

Advice for newM3 owner:
1) Get the oil changed at 600-750miles. Yes, I know the manualsays don't get it changed until you hit 3,750. But Mazda only cares about your motor lasting 36K miles (since that is the warranty). Spend $25 and get it done.
2) Use 5W30 oil. There are very real doubts about how much protection5w20 oil provides. Exception is if you live in Minnesota (or similar) and it is winter.
3) Keep it under 65 MPH, and the engine under 3500 RPM, until you hit 3000 miles. Yes, the manual is not specific about this. See above re: Mazda'spriority re: how long your engine lasts.
4) Re: Ford, good news is very little on this car is Ford (notable exception is the stupid, virtually impossible to read dipstick).

ya i did look at the 2007s but i went down to the dealership and they were like ok we have silver and thats it. or get the gx in carbon grey and i didnt want it. so i decided to spend the extra 30 bucks and buy a year newer. instead of getting the gx or the silver. but am very happy

If something huge goes wrong with your car, it will have nothing to do with what manufacturer made it. Japanese, Domestic we all use the same processes, the same materials, the same technology in our cars. Do some research on vehicle quality these days, we (Ford) are just as good as anyone else. Being 17, I have to assume you get your attitude about domestic vehicles from your parents, I won't hold that against you. You could have some fun one night proving with data that your parents are wrong about something...you should give it a try.
