The mechanics at the dealerships should at least be certified, the losers at the quicklubes are mostly high school drop-outs.
The mechanics may be, but the wrench-pullers doing oil changes are not (most likely). The dealer's not going to pay a $30 or $40/hr tech to change oil. They're doing the engine and tranny rebuilds. Oil changes are being done by the kids on summer jobs or fresh out of high school.

Perfect example of why I do my own personal oil changes. I know whats getting done when. I've heard all the stories and seen all the crap of leaving plugs out, overfilling, underfilling, or even not changing at all.

Short of a professional race team perhaps, I want to know where Technicians (Mechanics for us old folks. At least I was proud of the title while I had it) are making that kind of money? The business makes all the money while the Technicians spend half theirsalaries (<$20/hr) buying new tools just to keep up w/the changes!

Those were strictly guesses based on the dealers charging about $125/hr around here. I, too, am more familiar with "mechanic" over "technician", but in these times. "technician" is more appropriate, at least for the ones who don't rely solely on the diagnostic computer to tell 'em what's wrong.

Yeah. I had the first oil change done for free, and then have done all the rest myself. Slightly off topic, but I got a Fumotu valve, but it doesn't work with the 3's oil pan.

Ouch about your Quick Oil Change valve. Their site does say the adapter is needed.

installing my Cobb RSB. Guess I'll take another look. Ya know, you'd think our post count would go up since we have to post stuff one or two sentences at a time.

instead of one coherent paragraph. Apparently, the MazdaForum is the same as the DodgeForum and the ChryslerForum.
