Default Mazda 3 warranty

My car had a problem with the engine thermostat, the air conditioner stopped working and the temp didn’t register. It got over heated. I had it towed to the Dealer, they told it was the engine thermostat, I had it replaced ($303.00), Drove of the dealer and about 2 miles away it got overheated again. Had it towed back to the dealer, now the cooling fans were not working. Had it replaced ($700.00) and they did a compression test and it turn out the head gasket was burned. They want $1600.00 for the repair. My car has 49433 miles. Shouldn’t this be cover by the engine warranty?

To make a long story short the techs at that dealer are bad or atleast the one that did work on your car is. Heres the crummy part all of those parts that "failed" except the cooling fan is labeled as a "wear" item, meaning the warranty does not cover things like that. For example if you had a manual trans and the clutch exploded after 2k miles, your gonna pay for it, if your brake pads decide to fail, your gonna pay for it, but lets say your door falls off or your plastic valve cover has a crack in it, THEN its covered under warranty.

Well I can't speak on my new Mazda 3's warranty since I've only had it a month, but my previous Mazda 323 (obviously was a few years ago) had the thermostat fail on it twice and my dealership replaced it both times under warranty. I can't remember what my mileage was when that happened but I think it was about the same as yours. Fortunately they were competent enough though to diagnose my problem correctly before it did more serious damage. I also had another dealership replace the transmission on it under warranty even though that was probably my own fault because I towed a trailer with it which I probably shouldn't have. And with some of the other horror stories I've heard, I'm guessing that it simply boils down to some dealerships are better at taking care of their customers than others.

I would argue that the 60,000 mile, 5 year warranty on the drive train applies. A burned or blown head gasket that causes engine overheating is NOT a normal wear item like brake pads or drive belts. They should cover it.
