Cool Mazda 3 Transmission Fluid - DONT BUY THE WRONG ONE

Hi there. While searching the threads, I found a post about picking the right ATF fluid for the right transmission. Just bought a used 2012 Mazda 3 iTouring Skyactiv with 6-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle has about 181,000 miles.

I plan to self-drain and refill to begin the process of clearing out the old fluid. What is the best and correct fluid to use? The Mazda FZ is recommended.

Mazda Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF FZ) | SKYACTIV)

It seems to be what's recommended when watching YouTube videos but they all say DON'T BUY THE WRONG ONE mismatched to the transmission type.

Recommendations needed, preferably from someone who has done the procedure before.

Thanks!

At 181k miles I would not recommend that you do anything except a pan filter and fluid change. This way you can see what is in the pan and the condition of the valve body for varnish. I would highly recommend at your miles that you get a sample of the fluid analyzed.
DO NO attempt to replace the complete fluid until you do what I first recommended.
There are other brands of ATF that will work fine in that transmission. I prefer and recommend CASTROL ATF.

YOUTUBE video main purpose is to build followers they ar not sanctioned as being correct and there is no information to verify the information, where it was originally derived from and the most of all who is do ing the video. READ and FOLLOW SERVICE MANAULS .

Transmission

Blackstone Laboratories > Engine Types > TransmissionAutomatic transmissions ask a lot of the oil. Not only does the oil lubricate and clean internal parts, but it also functions as a hydraulic oil to operate various components.

Transmission oil can be contaminated with metals, solids, and moisture, and those contaminants need to be removed before they cause problems. Conversely, a test of your transmission fluid may reveal that it’s still in great condition, and you don’t need to change it as often as you thought.

There’s no easier way of knowing what’s going on in the system than oil analysis. We can tell you if the oil needs to be changed, if it’s contaminated, or if there are any problems at hand. Request your free kit today and make sure your drive train is wearing as it should!
