Default Is Mazda 3 a good car to Buy ???

Hi Friends,

I've heard good things about Mazdas and seriously considering a USED MAZDA 3 for purchase.

I noticed there are 2 types--- the Sedan and Hatchback ---- AND i also see 'some are Turbo charged too' !
.
  • WHAT'S YOUR OPINION...Which year would you buy and which would you avoid?
  • What are some of the Biggest Quirks about owning a Mazda 3
  • What should i look out for in my quest to buy one?
Just doing some Car Shopping and thought it best to ask the group what their opinion is...

Thoughts / Comments ?

Thanks for your input !

I have a 2013 Mazda 3 s gt sedan that I bought used 2 years ago. It has been reliable transportation that's fun to drive. It has the 2.5L fuel injected engine, no turbo, not skyactive. I've not had any problems with it since I bought it, and the car fax records do not show any major repairs in the service record prior to my purchase. It currently has 90K miles on it and I plan on keeping it a long, long time. Hope this helps a little.

Hello uicc,

I reading these are good cars. Not sure about the maintenance as its a rotary motor (from what i understand).

How many miles were on the car when you bought it... What have you done to it ?

Mazda 3 2018 N/A 2.5 automatic transmission is IMHO the best year for the least problems and established systems.

Sedan vs Hatchback is a personal preference and nothing to do with the reliability.
Unless you really want to have the TURBO CHARGED Engine for the name's sake there is no valid reason for choosing it over a N/A for a daily driver. You need to balance all the pro's and cons yourself between these 2 engines.

As with any vehicle purchased have an independent of the seller do a complete bumper to bumper inspection.

It had 75K miles when I bought it. The only thing I've done is change the oil. By the way, the engine is not rotary. Mazda discontinued use of the rotary engine after 2012, although I've heard they may bring it back for a particular model, not the mazda 3.

You are saying N/A ---- standard shift --- ?
Unless i was buying a Miata, i would only go with Automatic --- plan on using the car for commuting and appointments around town.

thanks very much for your comments !
