Default Mazda 3 Cargo Hitch

I was wondering if anyone has experience using a hitch for a cargo carrier on their Mazda 3. I have the wagon.

I am curious what sort of weight people had used this for and how much they noticed in driving with it (mpg etc).

I have installed many hitch receivers on CX-5's and a small handful on the 3's. Most of them for bicycle racks. They do work well for the extra cargo. That said, I have one huge safety warning to pass along. Too often these carriers are over loaded. Because of it's orientation to the rear axle, when over loaded weight wise, the axle acts like a fulcrum and pulls the weight off the front axle. Lose of steering control is the issue. I've seen more accidents than I care to count where this is likely the cause. So load wisely.

What's the load limit on a hitch like that?

In my market, the Maximum weight permitted on the BM Mazda 3( Current model) towball is 75 kilograms. (download limit)
