Mazda 3 1,6 Petrol 2006
I bought my wife this car recently. 1 owner from new, 86,000 miles and it's immaculate. I mean showroom condition. The inside is like from the factory. Got a bagain.
However, my wife drove the car back and followed me. We went over some very bumpy country roads etc.
A day or so later we get the P2187 System error Engine to lean bla bla bla. Had it confirmed at the garage. Bank1 I can ignore because it's 4 Cylinder. We called the guy we bought it from and he said he had never seen that error ever in all the time he had owned the car. Could be true or it could not be true. Anyway, When my wife drove over these very bumpy roads it's possible something came loose. I will check all connections under the bonnet anyway....
So I need to fix the issue.
If anyone can confirm what I am about to do is ok then please shout if not.
1) Check the petrol cap
2) Start the engine and spray WD-40 on various hoses around the engine. The idle should speed up if there is an air leak. Replace the hose in question.
3) Check the purge solenoid. Take it off and shake it. if no sound it's either stuck closed or open. Replace it
Is there anything else to check whilst I am at it.
Cheers
Steve
