Default 2006 MX-5 Check Engine Light

I am new to this forum. I purchased a 2006 Miata MX-5 Sport in July. During the first 1600 miles the check engine light went on three times and each time the dealer said they had fixed the problem. The last time it was fixed they put on a new and improved gas cap. Sure enough, the problem went away. Now at 4,000 miles the check engine light came on again, this time I was able to go 2,400 miles without a problem. I thought it was fixed. I have an apointment later this week with the dealer. Has anyone out there heard of a similar problem with the same year and model car? By the way, the car is running great and the gas mileage has not been altered. The only symptom is that the check engine light is on.
Signed,
Frustrated

I'm new but just got a 2007 miata, put 1700 miles on it and now check engine light comes on. It comes on when ing. is turned but won't go off, car runs fine and gas mileage is ok. Going to dealer tomorrow for them to check/fix, I'll post results tomorrow eve.

Thanks for writing. Here is what you might want to know before going to the dealer. This is the history on my car (2006 Mazda Miata):

777 miles on the odometor: check engine light on; diagnostic code P0455; checked for leaks; cleared code

1015 miles on the odometor: Check engine light on. Trace system code P2407 leak detection pump circuit. Run evap test and pump fails. Replaced pump and reran test. Test OK.

1669 miles on the odometor: Check engine light on. Replaced with upgraded gas cap. Believed problem was finally fixed.

4000 miles on the odometor: Check engine light came on. Will see the dealer service department tomorrow . . .

Interesting. I had that code at 1015 miles. This time they came up with a P0455, which I have had before. They ordered a new purge sensor, I believe it was called, and they will put it in the car next week. Let's hope both our problems are solved.

Check out Miata.net in the NC forum, I believe there is a thread that covers this issue in detail. We have been lucky with our car, no issues so far with lots of fun miles behind us.
