I've looked all over for this problem to no avail, so I hope I'm not reposting... My 2008 MS3 with 65000 mi on it is making a low "rurrurrurrurrurr" noise in the front end when I make tight turns at low speeds, usually when I'm pulling out of a parking space or parking lot. It only happens when I'm in gear (usually 1st or 2nd) and accelerating from a stop or a very low speed. It sounds equally loud on both left and right turns, and the sound stops when I straighten the wheel. Everything is stock, no aftermarket parts.

I've already taken the car to the dealership, but after three test drives, we couldn't replicate the problem. Ironically as I was turning out of the parking lot to go home, it made the !@#$ noise again.

Maybe it's a wheel bearing? CV joint? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

 

you need wheel bearings.we just had them done on our 2003 mazda protege..working very well now

 

i'd vote on wheel bearings, though 65k miles isn't that long. The CV joint would click, then again there is a support bearing for the right side driveshaft - that could make noise too.
