I am a new Mazda owner having recently purchased a 2014 Mazda 3, five door. I love the car - handles well, great fuel economy, sharp styling, and the 2.5 liter engine really responds. However, I have a couple of questions. Is there a way to turn the audio system on and off? I have been simply turning the volume to 0 but that is a clumsy way to turn the system on/off. Furthermore, if I insert a CD and the volume is at 0, it starts to play before I can turn up the volume. I would think there is some way to insert the CD, then turn on the system. I would appreciate anybody's input.

Congrats! I just purchased the mazda3 hatch i grand touring myself. I've found that the audio can be muted by pushing down the small volume *** that is in front of the center console. Hope that helps!

 

I push the volume button. The display shows "Audio Off".
