While I don't know this for sure, I'd bet that there ain't no such a critter on the Mazda3. Why? Because in this day and age of computer controlled fuel injection systems, idle set screws are more than a bit extinct.

Did it give a CEL before? Have you changed the intake or are you still on the OEM? Is it only when you're sitting still, or does it cough/run rough when first starting/stoping/turning?

You may want to try cleaning off the MAF sensor, and or see if you can cause it to happen by moving the MAF harness around while the car idles.

180000 miles on a 2005?! Holy smokes you put a lot of miles on a car. When was the last time you had a tune up?

Default Idle correction issue

I see this is an old post, but for any future reference.
If you ever change your battery or even disconnect it on a Mazda 3 2005-2008 appx. you want to correct the PCM Memory. The way to do this on this car is simple, there’s no real need to even clean the throttle body.
Run the car in park for 20 minutes with all components, accessories off, AC or anything.
After 20 munites leave the car running and turn your AC on high for 15 minutes then take it on a drive, you’ll be very happy you did this simple and cheap fix. This resets the memory on the Computer and your car should run like new! If you get a CEL don’t disconnect the battery, take it to an auto shop and have them check the codes.
This fixes idle problems though. I’ve done it personally on a Mazda 3 with 130k and it runs perfect like when it was first bought. Hopefully this helps someone in the future despite this post being old.
