Default Mazda3 - wont start! Ecu? Key indicator imobilizer

Dear Members,

I am writing from Mozambique. I have a Mazda Axela 2006 hatchback.

The car had issues with the parking lights. the parking lights weren't working. So an auto electrician was trying to figure out the problem as it was not the fuse. During his working on the car. The car wouldn't start after.

Basically when you try to crank, it wont crank, and the car will show on the gauges, the symbol of a red key flashing.

the car simply wont start, and when you try and diagnose the car, no computer OBDII connected system connects to the ECU.

Please can you advise on what can be the issue? Is it just the ECU? Or must one order, BCM, PCM etc.

Please advise.

the car details are as follow:

Chassi Number: BKSP309684
Engine Number: ZY382757

I have the car standing for over a year now, and i have no clue what to do. I have had other people come and help but no sucess. I have been to the Mazda agent. But because its a Japanese import, they said they cant work on the car

Hi cris. I know this is a old thread, but like no one else had answerer I thought maybe I could share some useful info. That way, if this happens to any one else in the future they could find some help. I really think is a ecu problem, but before taking any further decision, I advice you to seek for an second opinion, you know just to be 100% sure. Try to find any local workshop where you can repair your engine control unit . If that doesn't work, try buying a refurbished one . Those are pretty cheap and most of them work good as new. For instance, you can try these:

Dear John1989

Thanks for your reply. unfortunately the car is still standing, as I have not had much time for it untill recently. I am currently looking for a new ECU, and hoping I can find that. I looked through your Sites, but didnt seem to locate the one i need.

but thanks for your help!

I have had a few people come through the car, but since then, they just seem to make bad matters worse!

Have you searched by the car Chassis number, the engine number or by the reference of your ecu?
