Huge price difference: 2019 vs 2018 Mazda 3
I has a very good offer for preowned 2018 Mazda 3 Sedan High(Full Spec) in my country(South East Asia)
1) Preowned unit
2018 Mazda 3 2.0L Sedan High(Full Spec) Auto
Year of Manufacture: 2019
Registered date: April 2019
Price: 24,400 USD
Mileage: below 10k
VS
2) Brand new unit
The latest 2019 Mazda 3 2.0L Sedan High Plus(Full Spec) Auto
Price: 37,900 USD
Honestly, I like the all new Mazda 3. But the price is ridiculously high in my country.
Also, since it is newly launched, they might have a few glitches here and there. But the extwrior and interior are really superb.
Overall, if it is not the pricing, I will definitely go for all new 2019.
* I can afford both units, just it is overpriced(as in our country, the new Mazda 3 is fully imported from Japan).
What do you think?

I am surprised by the prices. They are significantly higher than I would have thought.
I have both generations currently, a 2015 2.5 Touring with 97,000 miles and a 2019 2.5 AWD Preferred with 1,000 miles. The plan is to give my son the 2015. They are both great cars.
The 2015, like your 2018 option is a more fun to drive car. It is more of a drivers car. More of what I expect in a Mazda.
The 2019 is more refined, it feels like a luxury car. It feels like a car costing twice as much. It is also full of electronics but they are not in your face like they are in other new cars. Some new cars look like video games. Mazda’s do not. The AWD option is a huge benefit for me especially since I can still use the winter wheels from the 2015. I can’t wait for snow.
The 2018 has a touchscreen which i find much easier to use then the system in the 2019. The Sirius radio controls in the 2019 are extremely frustrating. The cylinder deactivation in the 2019 is rough. The rear window (even in the sedan) has far less visibility than the 2015.
I think they are both great cars and I would not drive anything else but neither is perfect.
Tomorrow, I will drive the 2019 to work and love it. After a few months, if my son does not take the 2015, it may be a toss-up.
I would say if you are looking for a fun to drive sedan go with the 2018. If you are looking for a small car with a luxury feel, go with the 2019.
One thing to consider: can you find a new 2018 in stock. I would try to get a new 2018 for around the price of the used 2018.
Either will I’ll be a great car to own and more important (for me at least) a great car to drive everyday.
