Help: Mazda 3 2004, 2.3L
So the car was running perfectly normal before this happened. My girlfriend was driving on the freeway and suddenly the temperature guage shot to H. She began to pull over to the side of the road and the car shut off on her. Im assuming the computer would shut itself off to prevent any damage to the engine? I let the car sit for about an hour to cool off. Than i went to put coolant in it and i noticed it was empty. i refilled it and noticed all of the fluid leak out. Previously it had no leaks. I havent pinpointed when the coolant is leaking out from yet. Looks to be somewhere in the middle of the engine. Now the car will not start. The starter sounds like it is spinning. The belts move normally whenever i attempt to start the car. But it seems that there is no compression or spark. PepBoys tells me i need a whole new engine. I want to believe that isnt the case. Is it a possibility that there is a sensor keeping the engine from starting due to have zero coolant? As fast as i pour it in is as fast it leaks out. The oil doesnt have water or coolant it in it. No oil leaks. There is no visual damage from the overheat. Help me?
There really isn't much anybody can do on the internet. You will need to have the issue professionally diagnosed as it sounds like you've run out of options.
The above said, you should at least determine where the leak is coming from and determine if the engine has any compression.
