Default Fog lights and more

So I was messing around with my lights for a bit and i noticed that i can't get my car to just leave the fog lights on without the enabling the headlights. Is there a special way it has to be done or what's going on?

besides that, Im thinking about buying a TWM short shifter - anyone have any good feedback they can give me about it?

I can think of three different walkthroughs to do this. Two of them require running wires through the firewall. The third doesn't, but it only works on cars that don't have OEM HIDs. If you have halogens then you can use that method and you can set it up for the fogs to be hot whenever the headlights/parking lights are on, or whenever the ignition is hot.

Nice, thanks I have a 2007 2.3L Mazda 3 5-door S-touring. Im running Halogens right now, but im thinking of putting an Apexcone 6k HID Conversion kit and then doing the evo8 light mod. then i might make my fog lights either white or make them HID too. this is why.

Walkthrough without running wires
Walkthrough with running wires

There's another variation on the "running wires" one that basically hides all the wires under the fuse box but I can't find it right now.
