the rear slot on top of the rear license plate? i can see a wire right inside that goes to the rear lights for the plate. anyone know why the car was made like that? it looks like something is missing, but i looked at other mazda3 in the parking lot and its the same.

 

if its where im thinking of then thats where you overhead light for the rear plate is supposed to be.
