Next 1 arriving end of August .. The Price for this Beauty is $AU700 mmm
Im looking at a alternative to this and would like options for a Aluminum Cover instead
Even if I have to buy from the states or anywhere else on this Globe

The reason Mazda and many other automakers went with plastic valve cover better heat stable
Aluminum is not always a better choice

A crack in the plastic is hard to find btw.

 

Perhaps but $700 for plastic is a bit rich
and I thought the aluminum would be a good choice
So is there another substitute
so the problem if damaged would be around the gasket on the inside ?

700 is stupidly ridiculous…
Thier are auto recyclers that may have one very inexpensive?
As I said cracks in the thermal plastic are not always easy to see
but repairable .

And I would still look more carefully at the sensor/valve for damage .

 

I'd take the advice of cleaning it then a short drive. The solenoid may be leacking in the seam at the top. They are subjected to engine oil pressure where the seal and cover is only oil splash and I have never seen a plastic cover crack and if Mazda don't have one in stock says something to me.

 

They do crack and they do wear from the heat over time. But I do admit the biggest issue with some early Mazda plastic valve covers was warping and constantly leaking where the warp occurred even with proper gasket and torquing.

 

I have ordered a cover from the States . It was cheaper than the Mazda price
also the oil control valve is expensive so Im pinning my options
on the cover and seeing if this will be the fix
