Question Eco programming problem

A friend of mine has a 2005 Mazda3 and some clown was working on it for her and changed a motor mount. Well, I guess he disconnected the ecu which sat disconnected for a few days. Now after everything is hooked back up, it won’t rcognize her key.

I’m a Computer Network Engineer by trade and I program micro controllers as a hobby, so I’m pretty savvy with most things computers ... I’m wondering, is there a way I can fix this thing on the cheap with a laptop and an interface to the OBD-II port?

Thank you,

Mike
