Do you have a metal flap at the gas tank inlet?

Default Do you have a metal flap at the gas tank inlet?

Hi, all!
For a 2012 or 2013 Mazda 3, should there be a metal flap to close off the fuel tank inlet? When I take off the gas cap, here is what I have:

Here is what I am used to seeing:

I did a search, but I didn't find a definitive answer.
Thanks!

I think it may have to do with the final destination country of a model and what that countries emission standards qualification requirements may be?
Besides you should feel good that you don't have that flap in there anyway.

My 2018 Mazda 3 USA/California emission approved 2.5 ATX

Never seen a Mazda with the small metal flap.

Seen it on European Fords, which don't have a fuel cap.
