changing the oil filter
Has anyone trimmed the lower engine cover to allow changing the oil filter without removing the all the bolts and clips and then removing the lower engine cover. We have a 2007 Mazda 3.
The cover has a hole about the correct size, about 4" in diameter, to access the filter but it is not directly under it.
It is adjacent to where the cover would need to be trimmed. It looks like it would be easy enough to cut a new opening and then make and rivet in place an aluminum patch to cover the existing hole.
