I purchased the 2021 Mazda 3 Turbo in December. I live in California. Since then I’ve noticed that I only get about 200 miles on a full tank and my average mileage is 17.5 per gallon. Mazda says the city driving should get 23 miles to the gallon. On many occasions, I’ve gone to fill up from empty and the gas gun will click off at about 9 gallons suggesting the tank is full. I start the car and the meter shows full. The tank size is about 13 gallons, so that’s about 5 gallons unaccounted for. The car comes off of full very quickly, at about a mile or so. Also, the empty light will come on at about 22 miles left in the tank but the needle will be at a quarter from empty. I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing these issues.

 

I'm having the same exact issue. Only had my Mazda 3 Turbo for about a week and did my first fill-up. Only filled up about 9 gallons and shows a 200-mile tank range. That is not the gas mileage advertised. Not sure if maybe the sport mode affects this. I haven't checked that yet. Maybe I turned Sport mode on by mistake. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

 

Welcome to owning a mazda. My mx5 always turned on its fuel low warning at 1/4 tank. The same is with the mazda 3 turbo, the tank size is 48L but fuel warning is at 34L or 9gallons. Use the km or miles left as a guideline only when it hits 0 is when you should be thinking about getting gas. At this stage you have just under a gallon or 4L left.

 

I’m experiencing the same thing with my car. I have an appointment in early Jan with the local dealer to have it inspected. I’d love to know what you’ve discovered.
