2010 Mazda 3 Floorboard Carpet Raised?

2010 Mazda 3 Floorboard Carpet Raised?
Bought in '09 my Mazda 3s GT has been perfect except for this one, minor issue.
About 3 months ago I noticed the carpet on the floorboard in front of the Driver and Passenger seat is raised up or bowed up - you can push down on it and it pops. I could only find one other reference to this online but the cause was never mentioned.
Has anyone else had this issue with their 2010-13? Does anyone know what might be causing it, what a fix might be?
