2008 Mazda 3
Hey ladies and gents! I have been a part of this forum for a while beacuse I owned a 2005 Mazda 6i 5-door. So I just traded her in tonight and picked up a 2008 mazda 3 2.3L GT. With everything but leather (not a fan) and the bose (wish I could have afforded it). So I will be doing a majority of my postings at this forum.Anything that I need to know of first and foremost? I believe the car has like 20 miles on it, MY FRIST BRAND NEW CAR! Let me know what I need to know! Thanks in advance!

Take it easy for the first 2K-3K. You'll (I imagine) want to drive this car for years ... driving relatively gently for the first 2-3K will allow everything in your engine to seat properly.
Don't go on a long highway drive at a constant speed until you get a good 2K on the engine ... 15 minutes is not a problem ... I'm talking about an hour or more ... a new engine needs the revs to go up and down regularly when its spanking new.
Before you accept the car, check out the paint THROUGHLY for any dings or small chips. For the money your paying, you should get perfection (at least to start with ... real life willhappensoon enough).
Opinions vary, but I got my first oil change at 700 miles. I'd recommend any buyer of a spanking new vehicle do a change at about the same point. I believe the theory that a new engine is gonna have some loose particulate in it from the manufacturing process ... don't drive thousands of miles with all that crap in there. It can't be good.

Trust me, I will do that...Thank you. I could have accepted it tongiht, but I want to wait until it is daylight out and check for any dings or whatever...Do they come stock with mineral oil, or synthetic? Thank you!
Certainly it does not come with full synthetic. Full synthetic is bad for a new engine.
I don't know for certain, and who knows if things change over time, but I do remember reading somewhere that it comes with Motorcraft 5w20 (maybe semi-synthetic 5w20).
Personal 2-cents is 5w30 is a better choice in the long run. I'd only use 5w20 if I lived in a truly cold place, and it was winter.

You can switch over to synthetic after the break-in period. A certain amount of wear needs to occur during break-in to properly seat the rings in the pistons/cylinders. I also change my oil right after the break-in period (somewhere between 500-1000 miles)
Watch out for the cloth fabric in the 3....If you have pocket flaps on your pants with velcro, the velcro will grab the material and cause it to pill up.
I ended up getting seat covers for my car to keep the interior looking nice. (Custom fit, you'd never know they weren't built that way the covers fit so good.)
