08 ms3 Map problems
Hey guys I have an 08 mazda speed 3 and i had the CEL on for a map sensor. Changed it with a new one unplugged the battery to reset it, left it unplugged for a few hours, plugged it back in started it and the CEL went away and car drove fine. I even drove it down the highway a few miles, light never came up. So the next day I turned my car on and the CEL came back on and my car started running funny. Rpms kept going up and down stalled a couple times. So unplugged battery CEL went away car drove fine. Let it sit for a bit CEL came back on started running funny again. Can someone please tell me what's going on and how to fix it?!!
Common problem, especially if you have an aftermarket cold air intake. The connector on the wiring harness to the MAP is very weak and can be easily damaged. Here is how to verify:
Reset the computer and start car. verify there is no code. While engine is running wiggle and pull slightly each wire going into the connector on the MAP. If it throws code or engine stumbles at all, you have a bad connector.
The bad news is they are harder and harder to find. No one makes them, you have to buy from a salvage yard and its a cut off and then solder in part.
When mine broke I bought two, so if you cannot find one, I might be convinced to sell mine to you, but maybe not.
Good luck
