Default 8,000 rpm

I have something you may be able to help me with. I need to know if you can make a 2007 Mazda 2.0 liter that is able to run at least 8,000 rpm? I need the extra rpm to run my na Mazda 3i at the local drag strip.

If the engine is otherwise stock, I would strongly recommend against such an attempt unless you plan on putting a new motor in there after the day at the strip.

That's what I was trying to find out, is there any way to modify the 2.0 to handle the rpm.

Thanks for your time and help shipo.

It would involve a complete tear-down of the engine, a complete balancing of the rotating assembly, and end up costing thousands of dollars. Mazda 3's are not drag cars.

I think I'll just keep the 6,500 rpm red line and fry to get more hp from idle to 6,500 rpm. Any ideas on how to get more hp in that power band would be a big help to me.

Thanks for your time and help Dave in Edmonds.

Forced induction is pretty much only way to go if you aren't going to do anything to the engine.

Your other option is to sell the 2.0 and drop in a 2.5 liter Ford Duratec (same basic engine).
