Just had a new battery and as a result have been told the key needs reprogramming; (passenger doors are locked) Local mazda dealer will charge $180 for the privilege. This is a 2016 model and is a remote key. Is this a do it yourself job??

If it is the same key that worked previously you do not need to reprogram the immobilizer. You can program the keyless entry system using this tutorial (just the first half). Using a sequence between the ignition and the door.
