Default Engine System Failure

After sitting for a month the 2016 Mazda2 (Scion iA), was slow to start, ran rough and the check engine light was on. The system said it was an Engine System Failure and I was instructed to take it to a dealer immediately.

Expecting a $1,500 bill from the local mechanic, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I had a bad battery. Apparently a bad cell in the battery caused the problems with the engine.

This is one of the main reasons I love Mazda. If the same warning light had come on in my MINI, I doubt it would be an easy fix.
