Default 2008 Mazda 2 key fob help

Recently bought a 2008 Mazda 1.5, car was cheap and thus has only 1 key which is a standard no fob which I use to start no push button, I'm wanting to get a fob and a key blade cut but after doing some research the Mazdas have 3 type of keys, Visteon, Seimens and mitsubishi, I've looked in the Mazda 2 service manual and found the keyless entry module tucked behind the glove box and it has Seimens stamped on it, I've been looking up Visteon and mitsubishi keyless modules and they look different to mine but fitted to the same bracket and in the same position in other cars so I'm assuming it's a seimens key fob I need?
Next problem is there are several fobs and looking on cars for sale of the same age and spec the key used is a 3 button fob, lock, unlock and alarm cancel, fob code 5WK43450 now there seems to be 4 variants of seimens fob motherboards used 5WK43450C, 5WK43450D, 5WK43450E and 5WK43450F all 4 variants use the same frequency I'm guessing the last letter is revision changes?

About 3 years ago I purchased a cheap Mazda 2 sport 1.6 Hatchback 2004 model. Just some small repairs needed but all was great. It didn't come with fobs & I tracked down the fob code & even though I originally purchases the same make as the original which worked great. I later purchased a newer model with the key part of the fob that flips out. Same fob code & it programmed perfectly fine no issue's & the car using the 2 original keys after getting the newer key cut programmed the new key perfectly fine as well.

Now, I'm no expert. I only know what I've done, be it correctly or incorrectly & all I know is, provided the fob code is the same. Shouldn't make a difference of the manufacturer. I do believe the Mazda 2 sport 2004 Hatchback has the same fob code as the Mazda 2 Demio which came in shortly after. But the manufacturer for the Demio fob is different to mine, yet both work for each other.

I guess its a case of trial & error. I purchased my keys from eBay & I asked the seller if I could return at my own cost if It didn't work when I was trying to source the fob code version for my car & they all were happy for that.

Hope this helps!

Cheers for that, I bought a genuine Mazda blank key seimens with new 4d63 40 bit transponder chip, just got to wait for it to come also bought 2 extra transponder chips as back ups so will get those all programmed, will have to config the pats systems with me snap on tool as I only have one working key so can't program it using the 2 key method.

Yeah, I got stung with the key programming method as I paid for a shop to do it even though I had 2 keys. I wasn't aware you could do it yourself. Like I said, you learn from the mistakes

Good luck!

The key came, well 2 Siemens remote keys both with different numbers 5WK43450E and a 5WK43450D I can confirm the last letter of those fob codes I listed above are just revision changes as both fob circuit boards are slightly different, none the less both fobs linked up with the car perfectly and now I can unlock and lock the car, so if anyone has a Mazda 2 without a fob and needs to know which fob it uses then read my first post above then look behind the glove box on the keyless entry module, see which make is stamped on it and that will be the fob make you will need.

Yes you can program the keys your self, as Mazda uses fords pats immobiliser system, for the home users you can use FORscan and an Elm 327 adaptor, as long as you can access the pats system FORscan will do it, luckily the snap-on tool I used for my Mazda 3 works just fine for the Mazda 2 so am able to program new keys, it's also worth noting to use the correct transponder chip and make sure its a genuine texas crypto chip it should go straight in, the Chinese fakes are a mine field and wouldn't advise using them as they are a pain to program.

Well I'm not having the same issue as you were concerned with. I finally got my keyless entry system working again. Re-programmed my original 2 button 41803 Visteon key fob without issue. But I tried to use the upgraded version stating it was for the same version as I thought it was the fob that failed & not the keyless entry system. Anyways, it doesn't seem to be recognised by the car at all. So, even the one's sold on eBay stating its for the 41803 433Mhz 2 button keyfob replacement, it doesn't appear to be the case.
