170 horsepower is plenty for a 3500 lb. vehicle. Unless you are a lead foot, like I am. Drive one yourself to see. Keep in mind that the 4 cylinder will probably net you another 3-5 mpg. That adds up to a lot over five years of driving (probably over $1000), especially if gas prices skyrocket again (which they inevitably will).
A side note: Today's four cylinder engines are impressive. 170 horsepower from a 2.5 liter 4 banger? Wow. Just 10 years ago the V6 option on many vehicles didn't produce that much power!
