transponder key
When we purchased our 2005 Mazda Tribute it only came w/ 1 transponder key. We had planned on getting one made at the dealership some time ago but never got around to it. Well our keys got locked in the car yesterday and we had to call out a locksmith. I called Pop A Lock because they said they could also make us a transponder key on the spot and the price was incredibally cheaper than the dealer. Well they came out and got the Tibute open and cut two transponder keys. The locksmith went to program the first one and it stated on his computer that the key was already programmed. He then tried the other one. It said the same thing. They were both brand new from the cellaphane. They would both unlock the doors, thurn the ignition on. but then the anti theft would not allow them to start the car. The locksmith called tech support and they said to disconnect the battery for 15 min; then put original key back in for two min; then try and program again. This too didn't work. He then tried to bring p info on our factory Mazda key and it came up w/ nothing but there were no keys programmed to the vehicle. The locksmith then stated he was stumped. He called tech support once again and they said it was a bug w/in the vehicles computer itself. We both found it very strange the fact that my original would not even register. Our key basically should'nt of been working either. Anyone ever hear of this or have the same problem. Thanks.
