Default Reprogramming my Fob

I own a 2002 Mazda Tribute LX and the battery in my fob died. I replaced it, but now it needs to be reprogrammed. I've tried the whole turning the key on and off, shutting and opening the door trick and it didn't work. I really don't have the money to take it to a dealer and have it reprogrammed. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch!

Did not work because the programming procedure for the Tribby is way different then other Mazda's. Try this.

1: Start with key in 'off' postiion and all doors closed.
2: Now turn the key from 'off' position to 'run' position 8 times within 10 seconds ending with the key in 'run' (dash lights all on). If all went right the doors will lock and then unlock to indicate you are in program mode.
3: Within 7 seconds push any button on the first transmitter. Doors should lock and unlock to confirm programming.
4: Repeat step 3 with any remaining remotes within 7 seconds.
5: Turn key to off when done entering remotes and all should be back to normal.
