Default programming a new remote

Has anyone followed this instruction for programming a new remote, and was it successful?

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_program_a_keyless_entry_fo_your_mazda_t ribute

I have two new Mazda remotes I bought years ago for another Mazda and never programmed them. I noticed the remote that came with my Tribute looks identical to the Ford remote (probably because it is a Ford remote) so I'm not sure if I'll be successful with the Mazda remotes. It won't hurt to try, but just wondered if someone had experience. My current remotes are showing signs of age.

Cheers, Mark

Default Update

I tried to program using the new remotes I bought several years ago for my Protege5, but it did not work. The vehicle went into "learning mode" properly, but the remotes would not pick up the signal. So, I assume the procedure itself works fine.
Next week I will be getting a remote starter installed, which comes with two remotes. These will be replacing my Mazda remotes, which are aging (a bit rough looking and not too responsive to input - batteries are probably weak).
Maybe this thread will help someone else though.

Cheers, Mark
