Default Oil plugs

The oil plug seems to have come off the Tribute and left me with a big puddle of oil in my driveway.I've been told that it could be a stripped plug or I may need a new pan. In terms of cost of repair, what am I looking at? A ballpark number would be great.

Cheers!

Default oil plugs

My pan stripped out also the pan thread is a m12 i went and got a replacment M14 plug and a M14 tap and drill bit to match tap and drilled it out and retapped it worked great.

i spent about $25.00 for plug, bit and tap

then i flushed some oil through to get any shavings out and drove it to work and back and changed the oil and filter again, just to make sure shavings were out.

My mechanic told me it would cost $600 to replace the oil pan because the plug was stripped. Am I getting the shaft?

I personally would not pay that much. I was able to drill and tap mine myself.
