Question Keyless Remote Entry Question

When you unlock your Tribute with the remote, are your locks very loud? It seems like they should be a little bit quieter. haha What system does the tribute use to unlock the doors? (within the actual door itself) It sounds ALOT different that the remote locks on my fords.

Thanks!

I think my locks (2002) emit a fairly loud clunk when activated.

Same here, our 02 locks seemed very loud at first, takes some getting use to. Now the locks on our other cars seem to quite; can't tell if they're working!

I like the sound because you can clearly hear whether or not you have unlocked all doors or just the driver's door. On my wife's Pontiac Vibe, there have been many times where I thought I hit the "unlock" button twice, only to pull on the hatch release and find it locked.

Mazda used the old Ford power lock system that activates a small electric motor to physically move the lock mechanism inside the door. It's a bit crude, but reliable.

I have an '04 and I guess mine are loud as well. The one design flaw is that in the keychain remote, the loop that goes around the ring is so small it's nearly ready to break off, as it did on one of mine.
