EVAP PURGE VALVE
My engine warning light has been coming on occasionally for a week or two and now it is on permanently.
When idling it seems like the engine is surging then dying until it gets to the point wher it stalls.
When driving there doesnt appear to be a problem and there is no lack of power.
I have had the engine checked out and been told that the EVAP purge valve (Solenoid), is stuck closed. Forgot to get the error code that he said indicated this was the problem.
It looks like an easy part to replace but before spending money on getting the part, any of you more experienced Tribute owners got any comments.

I have no advice to offer...the purge valve is part of the evaporative emissions system...it absorbs gas fumes from the tank (instead of escaping into the atmosphere) and sends them to the engine to be burned up. When that purge valve malfunctions, the check wallet light (my affectionate name for it) comes on because the computer senses a vacuum problem.
