Default 2009 Mazda Tribute

I just purchased a 2009 Mazda Tribute FWD V6. I've only had it for a day or so and I heard a noise tonight that concerns me. When I brake to a complete stop, I hear a noise coming from the back end. I don't hear it when I brake while driving, only when coming to a complete stop. Is this normal or something to be concerned about?

Hi! Welcome to the forums!! If you could please put your cars info into your signature (year, model, engine, trans etc) it would help us all out

What does it sound like? High pitched or low and growly?

Does the sound happen if you brake gently so the body of the car does not pitch forward? I am trying to eliminate suspension noises with this question, some cars make strange suspension noises when stopping that sound like groaning.
