Default 2001 tribute lower intake manifold bolts snapped

Hey there

Ive been finding such great information here. I really appreciate all the knowledge and communication that goes on here.

a friend was helping me replace some gaskets and we snapped two of the lower intake manifold bolts. I can’t seem to find them any where. Called a ford and Mazda dealer’s parts department and they said even they can’t get them ordered anymore as they’re discontinued. The tribute runs fine but I’d feel a lot better if I could find two new bolts to put in.

anyone here have tips of where to find replacements?

I found some GM ones that look very close. Also Napa sells head bolts that look almost identical.

what are my options? Do you think a hardware store would have something that would fit?

Id really appreciate some help. I’ve spent a couple days scowering the internet with very little results.

The ford guy gave me these specs for the bolts -
if the V6 is the same in the ford as mine - M6 X 1.0 X 83.5mm

Here’s my bolt and I’ll paste links to the potential bolts I found.

Or this would work for 2003?

Default I have the same issue

Were you able to find replacement bolts and if so where? I just snapped one of mine on my 2004 Mazda Tribute lx v6. I am thinking that I will have to go to a salvage yard to get one if you didn't find a better option.

Use a head bolt that has the same dimensions. Or at least reasonably close
I would not recommend usinga used head bolt. there is no realistic way to measure stretch for the average DIY. If the used bolt strips during installation it may be a real task to remove the broken thread as well if the head bolt has already reached its service stretch life it could under circumstances cause a head gasket to fail.

There are always NEW head bolt alternative available. The best place to look if you are not sure how to do this is to contact an engine machine shop that is close to your location.

Default Good info

Thank you Callisto, I didn't think about the used bolt being just as bad as the one I snapped. I'll see if I can find a head bolt with the same measurements.
