I have a 2001 tribute DX and the gearshift is stuck in reverse. cannot start car--cannot move shift lever out of reverse. tried moving tilt column, foot on brake, ignition on, etc--no luck. Any solutions????

 

Hello hotshot, and welcome to the site.
This is what I whould look at first...possible "Shift Interlock" fuse. Check the fuses located in the drivers side kick panel. May be labled as cigarette lighter or brake lights. You can look at them or test em with
an ohmmeter. Might be a bad connection there also. Might pull em all and check em. Otherwise it might be in the shift linkage.
Others here who know alot more than me might be able to offer their ideas as well. Let us know what you find......Bob
