looking at trading my wrangler for this but not sure whats involved in fixing the car? i was thinking about doing a rebuild on the motor but its kind of expenisve and im not looking to spend tons of money on it.

Than don't buy it. An engine rebuild is not an option. a replacement is the only way to go. Around 2+ grand depending on the cars condition. Have the coils/spark plugs/wires been replaced?
