i just got my first mazda 2008 rx8 40th anniversary edition. have a few questions hoping someone can help me with. ffirst off i know there were only 1000 built for the us market, was wondering how i find out what number build mine is? also just started having the low oil light come on but only at certain times. maily when its hot outside. the oil level is fine when i shut it off and restatrt it clears out and no other issues for a while. thanks for any help

 

These engines inject a small amount of engine oil during normal operation. Have you checked the oil level on the dipstick?

 

yes the oil level is fine

 

Get the oil pressure tested with a oil pressure gauge.

 

my concern is that if its the oil pressure wouldnt it do it all the time and not intermittantly

 

Getting the oil pressure checked is cheaper than buying a new engine if it seizes up. It possibly could be a faulty oil pressure switch.

Regardless, it requires diagnosing.
