hi i have just got a mazda rx8 1.3. and am looking for some information. like which is the best oil to use? are the rumours true about starting the engine and if they are wat is the best way? paul

 

Hey Paul! Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the club. The RX8 is a breed unto it's own, along w/RX7's, but I would recommend following what the owners manual suggests to do. You can't go wrong that way and this is especially true if the car is new, and/or still under warranty.

 

for the oil; this generally brings up a lot of controversy. just to play it safe, i would only put conventional oil in it. i use 10w-40 castrol gtx in my rotary and it works just fine. some people will tell you that 10w-40 is too heavy, some will tell you that it is too low weight. people will tell you never to use synthetics, some will say that it is fine. i am just saying what is 100% proven in my car.
