From what I understand the Mazdaspeed protege doesn't have any change in the compression ratio from stock. I am also not aware of any stronger parts being used. You would probably have to upgrade fuel injectors, pump, ect. The turbo on the speed proto only gives about 6 pounds of boost but takes the horsepower to 180. That is with the 2 liter engine and an intercooler but as long as you use a managable amount of boost I don't think you should have any major issues. Good luck.

no there is no known current applications for the 90-94 protege.

however you can do a engine swap either the BPTurbo with 180 horse
or the BPTurbo from the 323 GTR hatchback.
both engines come from the 323 hatchback however you need to get several things. a new flywheel. tranny, axels and engine mounts.
expect to pay $2400 - 3000 with whatever engine plus the parts if you want to look into it more. go to www.corksport.com. alot of great parts for mazda's

you need to rebuild your engine if it is that old before you turbo. all of the pistons and rods in the speed model are cold forged and dish-topped. also the head gasket is a lot more beefy on the speed.
