Shift Mechanism Overhaul
1993 Protege

A couple days ago the shifter dropped suddenly I had 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears OK, no 2nd, and had to hold the shifter to keep it in 4th. I disassembled far enough to see what the deal was. It looks like the boot and/or holder has torn at the top and is allowing the shifter to drop. I can yank it back in to place, but it only stays in position for a very short time. The mechanism needs to be rebuilt.
Has anyone here done this? What parts should I buy for a complete re-build? Which ones must I buy?
