Default Ram vs. Cold Air Intake

I just bought a 1999 protege ES 1.8l man trans and the first thing I want to do is put in an intake. However, I'm not sure what I should go with, the ram or the cold air. Pros and cons for each? The price difference doesn't really seem to be a problem unless you go really high end. I was looking at these:

Thanks

From my perspective, unless you're wanting a little extra noise or a custom look to your engine compartment, don't waste your money; neither will gain you any measurable performance (and will likely cost you some in the mid-range).

And if you just want the noise, remove your stock airbox and pop on a cone filter.

Kaptnclutch ask yourself these questions:

1) How much do I want to spend?
2) Is the intake legal in your state or country? I know that in California they are not unless they have a CARB sticker to go with it. For more info Google carb sticker.
3) Is the big name companies like AEM and/or others worth it for you? Can you get away with using an eBay intake?
4) Will cold air give my car more of a chance of hydro locking? Then short ram would be better?

In the end you are the owner of the car and you are the one going to pay for whatever you want to do to it. Personally I like intakes and I have them in both my cars. Some people will say don't waste your money, I say get it and the butt dyno never lies. There is a lot of information on which type to use. Good Luck with your decision.
