Default RE: cold or short ram intake

I just ordered a vibrant short ram intake (SRI)for my 2003 LX 2.0L. I got the short ram mainly because it was a lot cheaper than most cold air intakes (CAI)I came across, and because of the amount of rain we get in Newfoundland (didn't want to suck up water, although many CAI's come with a valve that sucks air from the engine bay if the filter gets submerged). The problem with SRIs is that they draw warm air from the engine bay (I'm thinking about venting mine with a hood scoop, but don't worry, it won't be too rice-y!)

Check out this Virbrant SRI (I paid $107 CAD for it - hardly a bank breaker in my opinion!). You can then get in touch with their distributor to find out how to order one. They told me to go to a local engine shop and I ordered mine there.

But, if you don't mind spending a bit more money on a CAI, you get cooler air drawn from outside of the engine bay (=good!).

That being said, I'm far from an expert on this; this is just based on my experience and basic research. Hope this helps.
