Default Protege5 EGR valve

Last week I went on a trip and when I came back my car had been sitting out for 5 days and right when I started it up it idles like ****...wanted to kill at low rpms, stoplights...the next day check engine light came on so i took it in and they said the EGR valve is hanging up, which apparently is a common problem for our P5s, I believe the EGR valve recirculates some of the exhaust back into the engine to keep temps down and to reduce emissions. My question is where is the valve located...I would assume exhaust manifold?...not even sure what it looks like. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

EGR valve is on the underside of the intake manifold. Couple of pics below of the valve. Manifold is off of the car but that view would be if you were looking from the brake master cylinder. Only two 12mm head bolts to remove and electrical connector.

I have the same issues but I can't seem to get at the EGR. Did you pull the manifold?
