Default protege probem with remote and car battery

i have a 2003 mazda protege. The other morning I noticed my remote unlock wouldn't work. I unlocked the car manually and it wouldn't start. I then had it jump started later in the day and drove it for 20 minutes. I then started it again one hour later and drove it ten minutes more. The next morning it wouldn't start again. Once again I was able to jump start it. I took it to a mechanic who said the battery is weak but not that weak, and the alternator looks OK. Also on the first morning when it wouldn't start the alarm was sounding and some lights on the dashboard were flickering. Any ideas?

It sounds a lot like your battery is dead. If you had an electrical drain that killed not long ago then it is probably holding a charge for a short time before losing it. I had a battery do that to me.
