Default Mazda Protege5 Instrument Cluster Malfunctioning (only in cold weather)

Hey guys,

2003 Mazda Protege5

When the temperature outside gets below around 40-45 degrees F, my instrument cluster cuts in and out intermittently until I have been driving for about 10-15 minutes.

The video is an example of me driving after about 2 minutes of warm up. I am driving at a fairly constant speed.

What do you think could be the cause of the malfunctioning instruments?

Thanks for your help!

Most likely a degraded solder spot/joint.

If your supper hand with a soldering iron, or know some that is, have a go at re soldering all the points/contacts on the circuit board.

PlasticSoulMan did you figure out what was going on with your cluster?

I'm having the same issue on a 2003 Protoge5

A little late to the question, but taking a shot .. same problem here, did you ever figure out your the problem.

My panel (tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge flicker when its cold outside)
I've had all my cables replaced along with my plugs.
I was told its a bushing issue by my mechanic.
He mentioned that he's come across the same problem in Ford Focuses.
I recall The 03 Prottoge was the same Build as the Focus at the time (i maybe wrong of couse )
I have a 2003 Mazda Protege LX
