Default Mazda protege Engine project. (Lifter solid ir hydraulic) ?

Hello and thanks in advance for any help! I’m in the process of rebuilding the 2.0 L engine on my 2003 protege5. I was smoking bad. I decided to do a complete overhaul since it was leaking a lot of oil from crank and can seals. I bought a complete gasket kit. Now I got across some hydraulic bucket or lifter. I’m positive that the ones installed on the engine are solid. Is a change to hydraulic always a good idea or it can potentially create other issues?? If someone is using hydraulic please let me know.
